Areas to stay in Prague?

My wife and I will be doing our honeymoon in Central/Eastern Europe in early June -- we%26#39;re going to be driving from Munich to Prague. I%26#39;ve never been to Prague, so my question is -- we%26#39;d like to stay in an area of central Prague where we can enjoy some early evening walks, outdoor cafes, etc., and where the areas are not too sketchy or dangerous for that sort of thing. Does anyone have any recommendations for locations to focus on in central Prague or specific hotels that you%26#39;ve had good luck with? All of your recommendations would be very much appreciated!

I really liked my small family run hotel although not sure its a honeymooners hotel (i guess I picture big honeymoon suites, fireplaces things like that).

It is called House at the Big Boot.

It is located in Mala Strana. It is a short walk from the Charles Bridge, Kampa Island and Old Town. It is a very quiet neighborhood (the US Embassy is on the street) and the hotel was really quiet, clean and modern. It is built in a historic building but all the fixtures and interior are new.

The Rippls who run it are very chatty. That%26#39;s what I was looking for on my solo trip.

The only hassle was it was cash only. But I found it convenient, friendly and warm.

We%26#39;ve just returned from 4 nights at the Cloister Inn in the Old Town in Prague. It%26#39;s not a particularly romantic hotel (having been both a convent and a secret police headquarters in past lives!) but we found it very comfortable, friendly, secure, busy but tranquil and spotlessly clean. It%26#39;s in a quiet cobbled street, just minutes%26#39; walk from the hustle and bustle of the Old Town. It%26#39;s about 10 minutes walk to the Old Town Square and to the Charles Bridge and is also convenient for metro and trams (the nearest metro and tram stops are on Narodni Trida, about 5 minutes%26#39; walk away). We walked about at all hours of the day and night without any difficulty (it was my fourth visit to Prague and I%26#39;ve never had any problems there). In any case Bartolomejska, the street which runs parallel to Konviktska on which the Cloister Inn in is located, is full of police offices and buildings!

We paid a total of 420 euro for two people for four nights, including breakfast.

My Lonely Planet Prague guidebook lists the following as the top five romantic hotels:

- Hotel 16 U Sv Kateriny

www.hotel16.cz

- Hotel Casa Marcello

www.hotelcasa-marcello.cz

- Hotel U Krale Karla

www.romantichotels.cz

- Le Palais Hotel

www.palaishotel.cz

- Romantik Hotel U Raka

Of these, the Casa Marcello is the most central and convenient.

Hope this is of some help.

Prague is a great city to walk around and we have never had any bother or felt unsafe. The %26#39;Old Town%26#39; looks a bit like a Disney film set and is quite amazing. We liked staying in the %26#39;Old Part of the City centre%26#39;. If you can try and visit %26#39;Mid Week%26#39; as it has become a very popular destination for %26#39;Stag %26amp; Hen%26#39; weekend breaks form the UK.

Hi all,

We are family (2 children) and we returned from Prague last week. We spent nice time there.

We were staying at apartments at Husova street and apartments were spacious and with equipped kitchen. We also saw some couple (honeymoons people) who were living in the same building and they suggest us to visit also Vysehrad and Petrin (the small eifel tower). The weather was quite unpredictable but this was only small black point during our stay there.

I think you will really enjoy it.

Really depends on your budget. The most romantic ones for my liking are Pachtuv Palac and the Alchymist.

|||

I am going with my family, so no romance!!But I think the Alchymist looks fabulous!! Check out their website!! We are staying at the Savic.....

|||

Savis is very nice too, in a small street just off the beaten track. (I would ask for a room to the back/ to the court yard, as the front of the house can be noisy with tourists walking past, speaking loud or singing)

We have been to Prague on two occasions the first time we stayed at the U Prince which is on the old town square across from the astronomical clock,with plenty of cafes.It has a rooftop terrace, a jazz band played in the bar. I am hoping to go back later on in the year.

Then we stayed at the Golden Star which is near Prague Castle,it is on quite a steep hill.Prague is a lovely place i am sure you will enjoy it.Let me know where you decide to stay and if there is anything i can help you with just ask.
