Prague to Budapest

How long is the train to Budapest? Also, is it relatively easy to do or do I need to plan ahead and book tickets? Thanks

normally 8 or 9 carriages.

Buying tickets from abroad will cost you more. If you buy tickets a couple of days in advance when you arrive should be sufficient. The city centre Czech railways office next to the Marriott in V Celnice street offers a friendlier English speaking service than at the main railway station. Train takes 6 to 7 hours.

from which train station does this train leave?

most of the budapest trains leave from holesovice station in the north of the city, but some leave from the central station, hlavni nadrazi. It depends which train you want to go go.

Hi Seosalimi,

I am actually making the same trip from Prague to Budapest in March 2007. The train length was unappealing to me. I purchased a one-way ticket from Prague to Budapest for 79 USD. I%26#39;m not sure how inexpensive the train is but I didn%26#39;t think 79 USD was a bad price. I bought my ticket directly from Czech Airlines. Good luck to you!

wensluvtravel---are you saying a one way ticket from Prague to Budapest on Czech cost your $79???? How did you manage that?

I am traveling the first of April and could only find a round trip ticket for $350 US. When did you buy your ticket??

Hi Deb,

I checked my e-mail account. I bought my ticket around November 13th. I guess I got lucky! When I found the tickets, I could not believe it either. I%26#39;m traveling from Prague to Budapest on March 30th. I wish you luck.

wensluvtravel...do you know anything aobut the discount airlines or was that Czech Airlines that you are using? Did you buy a one way or round trip? I will keep my eyes open!

|||

Deb, I bought my ticket at www.csa.cz. The flight schedules were not posted for the discount airlines when I bought my ticket. Yes, you should definitely keep your searching. I honestly believe that I got lucky. I found similar fares ($350) when I was looking too....late one night I happened upon the cheap fare. I couldn%26#39;t believe it either. Are you only going to Prague and Budapest during your trip?
