Visited Prague for 5 days in April and loved it!
Arrived on the sat night and we got picked up at the Airport by our hotel, which had a taxi service, stayed in the Andels (see review), and after checking in we got food in a TGI fridays around the corner from the hotel.
On the sunday we basically explored Prague on foot by ourselves, took in old town, new town etc all on foot, we were fairly exhausted by the end of the day.
On the monday we took in a 4 hour walking tour, this was well worth doing, we met the guide under the statue of Wyncheles and proceeded down Wyncheles Square and got bits of history as we went on, then to new town, old town, through to jewish quarter, stopped for coffee in mala strana, and finishd off in the magnificant Prague Castle.
Tuesday we explored the National Musuem, its well worth a visit, also took in the Musuem of Communisim, and took a trip to the TV viewing tower, you get an amazing view of Prague here, up 93 metres. We took in the church of Our Lady of Victorius which is where the Infant of Prague appeared, which is near St Nicholas cathederal.
Every day we took in Charles Bridge, its magnificant, they are currently renovating this bridge and expect it will take 10 years!! Also you should avail of the 24 hour tram ticket, only cost about €4, for this you can get on any tram/tube/bus for 24 hours for any number of trips, great value for money.
Wednesday we took in the astronomical clock and went up to the tower of the clock, you have to take this in, amazing on a fine day. After this we took in the boat trip on the river, its well worth it, again on a sunny day its amaxzing. After this we visited Petrin and got the train up there, after walking half way....its breathtaking, the viewing tower, is like the Eiffel tower, you have to go to the top, and you get amazing views of Prague Castle. ALso visit the viewing tower on Charles Bridge.
Thurs was our last day, we took in Prague Castle, and we just missed the changing of the guard, this happens at 12, this is a must, pity we missed it, but on a smaller scale the guards on the main entrnce change on the hour, make sure you see it. St Vitas Cathedral is amazing, as is the entire Prague Castle Guide.
This is a small synobisis of my trip, overall I loved Prague, one thing which was awkward was not everyone had good english compare to Krakow where I was last year, but once you have a map, its very easy to navigate around the city either on foot or tram.
