Prague - Crystal

I am going on a trip to Prague soon and my mom%26#39;s been bugging me about getting her a crystal chandelier there. Does anyone know of a good place for such things? Is it really worth it? (Compare to getting one in North America)?

Any advices would be greatly appreciated.

This one has been answered before (and the question was also asked by someone from Toronto !)

So here is my answer from then:

You can get one of those whilst sitting at home! glassbohemia.com/products/… Glassbohemia is the largest manufacturer and you would have to go to Pardubice to see the showroom, which is a pleasant little day out in itself.

Try googling %26#39;kristalovy lustr%26#39; (crystal chandelier).

or, if you want to push the boat out a bit, try www.moser-glass.com/en/support/store?p=22 but you have to be in Saudi prince category for that :) Check the showroom out anyway - it is a sight to behold. It used to be on Na prikope Street, but it seems to have moved to Male namesti.

Can you imagine bringing a crystal chandelier back on the plane? It certainly would not survive the journey, and it would take up most of your luggage allowance!

A chandelier is definitely an adventure to bring home. However there are smaller, very beautiful cristal pieces that you can bring home. In your clothes I would go for those.

I live in Prague and with my wife we love to buy cristal or porcelain as presents (Czech do love doing it) or for ourselves. We always choose the cristal shop on the second floor in Kotva (a department store near Nam. Republicky, opposite the overhyped Palladium mall). The have a very big choice of products, good prices and they know how to pack things (what I don%26#39;t know is if they can arrange shipping, if they don%26#39;t you can do it yourself with DHL). But it%26#39;s worth a look.
