Hi
I am going to Prague on 2nd Sept with my girlfriend.
We will be staying at Andels Suites (Stroupeznickeho 21, Prague 5).
How much would a taxi be from the airport to the hotel?
Would I be better off booking a transfer in advance? I have seen a couple of companies mentioned on here who offer this service.. would this work out cheaper?
Thanks in advance
Richard

Taxi transfer maximum 800 crowns. You can enquire with the hotel whether they offer transfers and with companies like www.prague-airport.shuttle.com. Or you can share a Cedaz shuttle bus with others, dropping off on the way. If you book a pick up at the airport, you should check whether you will be charged for waiting time if your flight is late - this is more crucial in winter, if the flight is delayed because of snow, or more often, fog.

Thanks Peb7 :)

Hi, You could also try ringing a taxi when you arrive. Try AAA taxi, the number (local) is 602331133. They speak English and will pick you up within five mins. Typical cost to where you are staying is %26lt; 600 Kc

Fix Taxis (the grey Visa one%26#39;s) have a formal monopoly for journeys from the airport; any taxi though can take you back to the airport when you leave. Whilst AAA are one of the few reputable taxi firms around, if you ring them at the airport, you invaribaly need to go an wait for them round the side of the car park, so that the aggressive Fix Taxi drivers cannot see anyobdy breaking their monopoly. Two weeks ago, it was reported that a passenger was hospitalised by a Fix Taxi dispatcher when trying to put his luggage in a non Fix Taxi right in front of the airport. Whilst I could recommend a local to take such action (if they know where to go and stand and meet the taxi), this is not something that I would recommend for an incoming tourist.
Do though, have your hotel call AAA for your return back to the airport (price should not exceed 500 crowns)

Hi
Buy public transport ticket inside airport.
Catch bus number 100 from outside airport
Get off at terminus Zlicin
Catch Metro to Andel. There is only one at Zlicin so no way you can get the wrong one.
Piece of cake, cost less than 50p, even less if you buy a travel card for your whole time in Prague, and you will probably need one if you are staying in Prague 5.
Have a good trip
Jackie

I have lived here for some time and am well aware of the taxi situation at the airport. There is no monopoly by the Fix Taxis and it is not true that you have to go round behind the car park to meet any other taxi. AAA will pick you up in the dhort stay car park directly in front of the terminal exit---about 20 yards.
I travel regularly and would never use the Fix Taxis, they are very expensive. So dont be fooled and do whats right for you

Hi Richard,
We came back from Prague last Friday (the 26). We took a taxi (grey Volkswagen; it says on the side doors airport taxi). The car drives great! We paid to go to Wenceslas square 650 krone. When you take an hoteltaxi it could easily be 750 krone. This is the absolute maximum you should pay! Don%26#39;t arrange any shuttle; that is a waste of money. And don%26#39;t forget to tip about 10%. Have a nice vacation! My boyfriend and I certainly had one. Another tip: if you want to make a tour by bus or boat make sure you have all folders and then make a choice. It could save you money. When you decide to make a tour with Martin tour; you will get a 100 krone discount on the next tour with them. We took a bustour and a boattour with them (they served coffee and cake too). Enjoy!
