Prague 9-Prosec. What's it like?

Hi,

I will be going to Prague to live for a few months, maybe longer and will be staying with family friends who live in Prosec. What is the area like? Is there any good restaurants in the area? Is it safe? Is it a a fun area? How close to the centre of Prague is it? Is there a close metro station? Any information about Prosec good or bad will be most helpful.

Thanks

Write word %26quot;prosek%26quot; into search box on czech map server http://www.mapy.cz.

Closest subway station is Ladvi on the line C, as you can see on the map. Then unzoom this map and you can see where in the city is this quarter Prosek.

I do not know anything about this quarter, but I think it is the residential area (prefab houses)...

Prosek is full of Paneláky, those prefab blocks of flats, much like housing estates the world over, though, at least here, unriddled with the problems of those in other countries.

In May they will open a new metro station in Prosek, otherwise, there are buses that in a couple of minutes will leave you at Ládvi metro.

About restaurants, you will have to ask your friends, they will know better.

Fun, not much to do around, you will be better off going to the centre.

Hello,

As already said by the PP, it is mostly prefab apartment blocks (which are a bit depressing), so if you are staying for a longer period of time I would definitely suggest staying somewhere else. Not that it%26#39;s unsafe and or that it doesn%26#39;t have nice restaurants (I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll find some good local pubs) but there really are much nicer areas of Prague.

Short-term apartments are generally expensive - you could try subletting a room - this should be easier and less expensive than trying to rent an apartment by yourself. Have a look at:
