1st time to Prague

Firstly...what a FAB site...I wish I%26#39;d known about it before...never mind-I%26#39;ve found you now!!

I%26#39;m travelling to Prague for the first time, at Easter, and on my own. Am really looking forward to going...but just a few things that I would apreciate some advice on ....

I%26#39;m staying at the Hotel Fortuna Rhea (booked before I read your reviews...but don%26#39;t intend to be in much!) What would be the best way from the airport? I need easy!! As I won%26#39;t have slept for a long time! How much should I expect to pay for a taxi and is it advisable to pre-book? Help on how :)

Is it better to exchange ££££ in UK before departure (euros or Karuna?) or wait %26#39;til I arrive in Prague- at the airport or in town?

Back to the hotel...I hadn%26#39;t realised how far it was from the town centre....Are there any recomended eateries in the local area, and is it safe for a single woman to be walking around at night?

Thank you for ANY help!!

hi, the hotel is huge high communist building mostly for foreign school groups, but not far from the city centre.

From the airport, take bus 119 to final stop dejvicka and then metro from dejvicka to strasnicka. from strasnicka station, take a tram nr. 7 to ZBOROV {few stops only} and then it%26#39;s just few minute walk.

travel to the city centre is much easier, from Zborov stop take tram nr. 11 which goes straight to top of the Wenceslas square {exit at Vaclavske namesti}. If you take this tram and get off in the middle at %26quot;Jiriho z Podebrad%26quot; stop, you will be in the best place for having big, cheap lunch and the best beer.

Change your money in the city centre in one of the exchange offices, but compare rates first and check hidden commisions. As in the UK, we don%26#39;t use EUR, so it is no use in changing pounds to euro. Change to KORUNA. The exchange rate should be approx. 1pound=33CZK.

Prague is safe, no worries. for taking taxi at night {if you don%26#39;t want to use night tram going every 30mins all night long}, call 14014 AAA taxi, they speak english and are cheap and reliable.
