Susta Strudl

Does anyone know if it still exists? I went in Nov 06 and though off the beaten track, found the strudel worth the walk. Do not want to venture that far out this time if it is no longer.

I am going there tomorrow and will report if there are any changes.

Martina, I truly appreciate your help. Do you prefer the apple or the poppy. I have only tried the apple so far.

|||

I wrote about this shop on another thread recently and anm glad to have some follow-up information. We had heard about it on a TV program and managed to find the location through some googling.

Martina, would you please check what hours they are open. We want to go there when we are there in May. Also, is it really worth the effort? According to the program we watched, it%26#39;s the %26quot;best studl in Europe!%26quot;

Will do.

Thanks for the information. We are going to be in Prague twice, first time for 3 days with a tour and then returning on our own for 5 days.

Our second time we are staying in the Mala Strana so it will probably be better for us to try visiting this shop on our first visit. We are staying at the Dorint Don Giovanni. Would it be an easy walk for us?

Thank you again.

Martina,

Thank you for the information. As to the other person%26#39;s question is it worth it. Most certainly. Once is enough for two to share. Its about a 15 minute walk from the Flora metro stop. It was not too hard to find!

Much thanks to Martina!

From down town you could also take the tram 5 from Nam. Republiky to Lipenska and walk from there, its about 10 minutes.

From the Don Giovanni you can walk and I would think it is about 15 min. When you do that, have a look at the Olsanske hrbitovy, the cemetaries up there - they are beautiful and no tourists around. And on the way to the strudl maker.

There is a Jewish part, where Franz Kafka and Josef Lada are burried and in the other part go to admire the fabulous gypsy graves, they are lushly decorated and the tumbs just beautiful.

Martina,

Thank you for the suggestions and information. Sounds like an easy walk and a chance to see a little more of the sights of Prague. I should have asked this before - we heard U Sada restaurant which is in the same area is very good. Would you agree?

Lluveurope,

Thanks for the endorcement of the strudl. The program we watched showed the shop and the strudl so we realize they are pretty big. At the time of the taping (2005)the price was about 33 czk which is very reasonable. Thanks again and enjoy your trip.

U Sadu is more Vinohrady than Zizkov and it is a Czech, local restaurant with a %26#39;summer garden%26#39; which is a wooden terrace build on the wide sidewalk at a very small roundabout. It is not on the way.

In the way back from Susta you can walk down the main street (Seifertova) a bit and at number 26 is a place called Kure v Hodinkach. www.kurevhodinach.cz
