Prague to Kutna Hora

Hi, sorry if this question has recently been posted but we are traveling to Prague next week for our 3rd visit and fancy doing something a little different. We fancy a trip to Kutna Hora, what is best way to get there and how much should we expect to pay for the fare?

Thanks.

you can get a train from Halavni Nadrodni to Kutna Hora takes about an hour and run pretty regular.there is a local train that takes you right into the town from the main station ( i have never used that),but if you want to go to the Bone Church at Sedlac it is a 900 meter walk from the train station.the main town is a further 2 kilometers from the Bone church,you can walk or take one of the local buses.

fares are very cheap ,I have visited there twice by train and last time (may 2007) it was about 120czk return.

ww.idos.cz for train times and info.

I can give you more specifc instruction of getting to the bone church if you decide to walk,just ask.

if you take the train to Kutna Hora hl.n it is only about a 10 minute walk to the bone church.there are buses that will take you there as well,but I found it very easy to walk.There are yellow marking on the pavement outside the station pointing you in the direction of Kutna Hora just follow them for a short while and you come to a Roundabout,on the left hand side is a large church and on the right a road taking you up the 200 yards or so to the bone Church.From the Bone Church it is about another 20 -25 minutes walk into Kutna Hora itself( just walk back to the roundabout and you will se the yellow markings on the pavement ourside the big church) and it is well worth the visit.See the Go list %26quot;Unclegus%26#39;s trip to Prague%26quot;

this mentions my day trip to Kutna Hora and the bone Church.

worth checking the opening times of the church as they usually close at lunchtimes.

In Kutna Hora irself the Italian court building is well worth a tour (you may have to wait for an English speaking one) and St Barbara%26#39;s cathedral is facinating.Plenty of place to eat and drink and the place i mention in my go list is an excellent place .

Thank you! :)

Glad to be of help.

if you go to my profile and to the Photo section ,you will see several pictures of Prague ,Kutna Hora and Plzen.

BTW Kutna Hora is built on quite a steep hill so be prepared for a bit of an upward climb.

the walk from the train station to Sedlac and from there to Kutna Hora is flat though.
