The makers of Budweiser have just announced a move to compete on local soil with the great Czech beer, and it%26#39;s to be in Prague. They reckon to have it up and running by 2009.
Will you regulars %26amp; locals drink it? The price is said to be %26quot;set as competitive%26quot;, but I don%26#39;t know at what level price THAT means.

wonderful news Stoofer, now we can get some decent beer in the city.
I think people get FOOLED into thinking that the American Budweiser is a poor relation compared to the Czech Bud ,but that really is not so.

Hmmmm.... Sounds like an April hoax :)
The would find some resistance more from the law than locals (if good marketing has made some peolpe buy Stella Artois, it can do pretty much anything:)

American Budweiser in Prague? You%26#39;ve got to be kidding. I live in the States, and it%26#39;s not my beer of choice. Best thing about them are their tv ads. It%26#39;s pretty hard to beat the Prague Budvar.......wish it was on tap here.

thank Gawd...........a hoax!!!!!

God knows, they have tried - they offered a pitiful amount for the real Budweiser company in CB in the early 1990s and poured loads of marketing cash into the city, but they weren%26#39;t having it. The AB guy who had been sent there went local after a couple of months and went to work for Budvar instead when he realised the error of his ways :)
It is one of the last pieces of the %26#39;family silver%26#39;, generating billions of Crowns for the state coffers - it would take a bit more than the $600K that was originally offered.
But well done Stoofer - you even had me reaching for Google when I saw that...

I wish I had thought of it. I was trying to think of a good prank for my blog.
