U tri bubnu - overcharging

Has anyone else experienced overcharging at this hotel? We stayed for 3 nights at 75 Euros a night but when we came to checkout they tried to charge us 6900 CZK which is about 1500 CZK more than the equivalent in euros. We ended up having to go out of the hotel, get CZK currency from the hole in the wall, change it to Euros and pay in cash in Euros and even doing all this we still saved 1400 CZK on the price they wanted to charge us if we had paid by credit card. This happened to other people checking out the same day as well.

That is inexcusable. Martina might know - there is an institution - COI - Czech Business Inspection Bureau - I wonder whether this falls into their competency. Other that that - make sure it shows in their reviews.

I suppose the hotel tries to make the most of the strong czech currency at the moment and uses some extremely unfavorable exchange rate or hidden fee. Good for you, that you didn%26#39;t buy it.

That sukcs! I will check with the Czech Tourism Board what we can do and will come back to you.

Thanks Martina - the only inconvenience for us has been that we spend an hour on the last day of our hols trailing about to cash machines/exchange bureaux but I would like to think it wouldn%26#39;t happen to anyone else.

Thanks for the warning.

In the post that has been reemoved - I have not the lightest idea why, I have said, that it depends whether the hotel has an exchange license - then they can make their own rate and if you change money their, you accept the rate. But usually these small places don%26#39;t have that.

Thanks for the alert! I was about to change our reservation to this hotel, but I will have to seriously reconsider.

I have just returned from staying at U Tri Bubnu and was also asked for more money than stated on our reservation They said because the rate was not as good as when we booked I pointed out that the charge of 414 Euros converted into CZK is more than it would have been at the time we booked, it took a lot of convincing. The hotel was not worth the money the beds were very uncomfortable and there was no bath although in my confirmation it stated there was. The Hotel Rott nearby is a 4 star hotel and is beautiful the cost is also a lot less. I am now worried that as they ask to swipe a credit card that they will charge the extra they wanted to my card

I think you should all email the hotel directly and let them know they are subject to a discussion on Trip Advisor , they wont like it and if I remember rightly they have responded before when someone has made a comment about the hotel.
