If you could only pick 1 Prague pub?

Only 2 more sleeps before I return to Prague armed with lots of useful hints, tips and information from searching the posts of regular contributors (special thanks to GCEK, Brewsta, Pivero and unclegus) as well as much entertainment from stooferuk :-)

I have tried a few different styles of pub on previous visits and particularly enjoyed U Medvidku, U Glaubicu restaurace, The Dogs B*llocks, and the little Old Town place with the Radegast sign outside that had sadly closed by 2007. My absolute favourite place to date is U Cerneho Vola in Hradcany for the simplicity, snacks and lip-smacking tankova Kozel.

Can anyone suggest a single venue that should not be missed this time around please? I%26#39;m particularly keen to try more unpasteurized beers and hearty Czech food.

Up above the castle are this is a more modern place, but make their own beer which is excellent ,the food also is very good.had a great rabbit stew last time I was in and their St Norberts Amber ale is superb.

btw there is a photo of me standing outside the place in the snow amoung the photos on my profile.

Thanks again unclegus, I have walked past Strahov before without appreciating what lay within usually on my way to U Cerneho Vola. The rabbit and St Norbert brews look enough to convince me to try it this time.

BTW I hope that we don%26#39;t get snow in April as you did even though it gives the city an even more photogenic appeal.

these photos were taking at the beginning of Match 2006 (my 50th birthday tour),I think the weather should be a bit warmer now.

are you visiting anywhere outside Prague? as i may have a couple of suggestions for you for Plzen and Kutna Hora.

Not this time I%26#39;m afraid. I%26#39;m best man for a stag group of 10 and the only previous visitor but I plan to leave them to the sports bars most of the time and enhance/update my Prague experiences in a smaller group.

I visited Kutna Hora in March 2006 and was very impressed, especially St Barbara%26#39;s Cathedral and the former Mint. The ossuary at Sedlec felt uncomfortable in a way that I still don%26#39;t quite understand. I will keep Plzen in mind as I intend to return for my 40th next April and a mates 50th later in 2009 and would like to combine visits outside Prague or a few nights in Brno.

Plzen is a good day out ,been there 3 times now and never get bored of it.The Brewey tour is very good and each time I have been new things have been added to the tour, the Brewing Museum is facinating but I bored my mates to tears with talks of Hydrometers and specific gravities, but we did visit some great pubs and managed to down a few beers.

I think a place that cant be missed is Pivovarsky Klub.

You are going to find at least two unpasteurised beers on tap, and if you don%26#39;t fancy them, you can pick any of the 250+ bottled beers they offer....

Food is pretty good, as well.

My favourite place.
