1st time in prauge... here are my tips

hi just returned from 1st trip to prauge at easter after a little hiccup at our hotel everything was fine. Lots to see and do clean city shame about some graffiti most people helpful reasonable food and drink prices although there was a easter rip off occouring where price of beer went from 33 on first night to 44 on second and 75 on third im sure this happens in every tourist spot.My top tip is dont waste money on airport transfet use the 119 bus and metro its so easy, fast,cheap and clean. My next tip is take comfy shoes that are suitable for cobbles and finally enjoy

Can you tell me how long it takes by 119 bus and metro to get to the center of town? We are staying in Mala Strana.Which metro stop should we get off?

Thanks!

|||

it took us 25-30 min with bus and metro to our hotel we were in centre of wencelles sq 5 stops on green line there are only 3 lines red yellow and green also called a b and c your hotel should be able to tell you which station is nearest or post a q on here someone will help you hones it really is easy

Thanks! Do bus and metro drivers speak English?

|||

you dont even need to speak to drivers you buy tickets in airport or any kiosk and then you stamp them in the little machines as you get on the bus or as you entre the metro station the tickets are valid for 75 min ,24 hrs or 3 and 5 days we got the 75 min one 26 chez crowns one ticket allows you to use bus tram and metro you have to buy 1/2 price one for suitcase most people have understandable english if you need help

the bus and metro are fine if you are on a very tight budget,but I usually arrange an airport transfer which costs anout 700czk (give or take 50 ) but a good atlternative is the shared Cedaz mini bus service which I have used on one ocassion.

you can also get the Cedaz regular service to V Celnici and get trams or Metro from there,not as cheap as the 119 bus and metro but preety cheap.

Hi

Can you tell me does the 119 bus take you direct from the airport to wencesles sq. Otherwise how do u know when to get off.

Thanks

|||

at the end of the 119 bus you are at I think (pardon the spelling) Dejvic metro station. What you need to do is ask your hotel/accommodation how to get from there to where you want to be. We%26#39;ve stayed with Castle steps a few times and had no problems with their directions using bus followed by metro and then tram. It%26#39;s a bit scary (meaning - are we heading in the right direction? not the environment) but I think it gives an introduction to the real place and it%26#39;s a great part of the holiday.

That said, we are in Prague in June and don%26#39;t land until late at night - for that reason we have ordered a taxi for the first time in case of flght delays and because the off peak journey might take a very long time.

There are links already on this forum for the tram and metro plan so you can work out a rough idea of your route for yourself.

hi if you are staying in wencelles sq its just 4 stops on the metro from the station the 119 bus stops at no changing and no trams 119 till end of trip then 4 stops on metro really easy

Somebody mentioned 25 - 30 minutes for his/her hotel by Wenceslas Square with 119 bus + metro but 119 bus Airport to Dejvicka already takes that time (I have done it about 20 times in last 1 year) so I would consider about 1 hour including transfer time and all, either to Mala Strana or Wenceslas Square. See the photo of the time table I took at the airport. Terminal 1 to Dejvicka is supposed to be 24 minutes.

No big deal though. Just for the record.
