Getting to Prague and beyond..........

Help please.........proposing to do the following itinery in Sept 2008

Leaving 12.9.08 AUGSBURG (Germany)

to VIENNA via rail (stay 2 nites)

then to PRAGUE via rail (stay 2 nites)

then to BUDAPEST via rail (stay 2 nites)

then to ZAGREB to RIJEKA via rail then to ZADAR (Razanac) via bus a rail does not be an option. (All in one day)

Questions:

1.Any probs with that itinerary?

2.Is there any reason/benefit to book the rail component before I leave for Europe and what can I expect to pay for those destinations?...(I reside in Australia.)

3.What quality hotels/accomodation can I expect in Vienna/Prague/Budapest under A$200 (if any) @ that time and what does anyone recomend (hotels) that would be within walking distance or convenient to public transport to the %26#39;must see%26#39; places at those locations?

4. What are the %26#39; must see%26#39; spots at those locations that one should see with a 2 nite stay?

5. Any tips/info/etc would be most welcome.

Thanks.

Itinerary looks a bit odd, as you should be doing Augsburg - Prague - Vienna - Budapest (look at a map!), otherwise you will be going back on yourself.

Use this for your train scheduling jizdnirady.idnes.cz/JRCis.asp?tt=c%26p=MF%26cl=E5

To get from Augsburg to Prague you need to change in Munich. The other journeys you can do without changing.

Don%26#39;t buy your tickets before you leave as it probably isn%26#39;t possible anyway - Raileurope reckons that they can do it, but they charge a hefty premium. It is much cheaper to buy them on the day, but you might get a slight discount on the German legs on www.db.de

Hope this helps!
