I heard it is far better to take czech krona rather than using credit cards or euros as they charge you extra commission if you use credit cards, or tell you the machine is broken.
Please can you tell me where the best place is to change money.
Many thanks, Diane

take some Czech Crowns and then use ATM%26#39;s.

Try Thomas Cook on line for exchange rate, got 30.3 to the £1 on saturday. also try the nationwide debit card best rate no commision from ATMS.

Your idea about taking euros is good. We were in Prague last year and almost everywhere we went they took euros with no problem and at the going rate. Like the last answer said, use ATM%26#39;s; there are plenty in all the tourist areas. Obviously you need to take the same precautions you would in any other major city.

If they tell you the machine is broken (I have never come across this phenomenon myself in the Czech Republic, although it happened to me in the co-op in Oxford a couple of weeks ago) just go to the next one - they are on every corner :)

There are ATM%26#39;s everywhere. Some credit cards do not charge extra. I only know of 1 company, but it is an American credit card company, so I can%26#39;t help you there.

we put money into our credit card acc and just used the ATM it was the best way and there is ATM in airport so you can get cash as soon as you arrive

I got this off the forums a while ago when the same question was asked.
Money Exchange
Kaprova 15 Street
right next to the church on Old Town Square

Did you try it? I would always take my money to high street bank to change if I ever did it that way (which I don%26#39;t), unless I was totally sure that it was kosher, or purely use the ATMs - the commission you pay the bank per transaction is peanuts compared to what the exchange booths cream off, either in Prague or in the UK.
|||
No I haven%26#39;t tried it. I think it might have been Peg that suggested it so I wrote it down.
I%26#39;m going to search the forums and see who I got the info from.

It was MartinaPrague so I figured the place was ok. I was going to try it on my upcoming trip.
