Budget accommodation in Prague

We are a mature couple (but still very active; we don%26#39;t mind climbing a few stairs).

We plan to be in Prague for a week in August (24/8 to 31/8) and are looking for budget accommodation that complies with:

1) Double room with private bathroom.

2) Basic features but clean.

3) Near the historic centre or very near public transport that allows quick access (say 15 min)

4) Safe area, especially at night.

5) Price around 50-60 Euros/night.

I have seen the 3 budget suggestions from the Trip Advisor guide.

Does anybody have another suggestion? Or, am I expecting too much?

Thanks

try this website ,they have always been very helpful in the past.

if you are looking for aroom for that sort of price in August I think you will find you will have to be based outside the main city center.I think you are either going to have to lower your expectations or increase your budget

Thank you very much for the reply and advice.

I stayed in the Golf Hotel for a rock bottom price (through travel office). It%26#39;s away from the centre (at the golf course) but at a tram stop from where the city is not too far. Last tram back from the centre about 20 minutes past midnight.

Safe area (there%26#39;s nothing much around the hotel). Basic accomodation but OK if it%26#39;s just for sleeping, and it%26#39;s clean. see reviews.

I would take a look at Residence Belehradska 35. Possibly slightly over your budget (69 euros or so) but you would have an apartment %26amp; kitchen facilities. You can save a bit on self-catering and over a week it would be good to have the space.

I have stayed here and can highly recommend it.

I forgot to mention that the tram stop, which is practically in front of the hotel, gets to the Old Town within 15 mins or so at the most.

Thanks people for all this helpful advice. We have now found and made a reservation in a pension that meets our requirements.
