We have a reservation at the King George Hotel, but I am wondering if there are other recommended hotels or apartments that are charming for less than $200 per night. We want quiet, not drinking, loud places that are central. A good view would be great!
Also, has anyone been to the Cesky Raj area? Is it really beautiful for a day drive from Prague?

I LOVE the Cesky Raj area! It is so much different than any other areas. I would definitely go to Hruba Skala for walking - the scenery is stunning. I realize you%26#39;ve already booked a hotel but the Cesky Raj area is definitely worth an overnight as well.
There are so many possible day trips from Prague - lots of great castles, scenery, small towns, etc. At what time of the year are you going?
I strongly advise you not to have a car while in Prague. Driving/parking is next to impossible. However, to do most things outside of Prague I would recommend it.

we are going in june.
what is Hruba Skala? Is it within the Cesky Raj area? Is a day trip really too little time if we can%26#39;t do an overnight?

Here is information on walks in the area - we did the 16 km walk - it is gorgeous and incredibly interesting.

I believe it is about 100 km from Prague.
