Just back!!!

Hi everyone!! Just returned from 7 days in Prague!! Had a fabulous experience! Stayed at Eurostars David- great hotel and perfect location- about 10 min walk along the river to Charles Bridge; 15 min walk to Old Town and Jewish Quarter. Little convenience store across the street from hotel to buy Pilsner Urquell and Snickers bars!! Cold and a bit rainy but no big deal to us! Went to Cesky Krumlov-really beautiful! Toured the castle there- interesting history! We ended up doing CK in one day and were fine with that- got back to Prague around 7:30pm. Ate at many different places- all good! Great pilsner! We had absolutely no problems with safety, pickpockets, etc. (We walked thru Wencelas Square several times around 10:30 in the evening and had no problems at all.) I know there were some posts about %26quot;not looking like a tourist: white tennis shoes, etc%26quot; but trust me- everyone looks like a tourist there!! :) You absolutely must wear good walking shoes!!!The city is best experienced on foot...so much to see!! Also be aware- you have to just deal with the smoking in restaurants! It is often quite heavy, but you gotta go with the flow. That%26#39;s just how it is there. Also, get a good handle on the money before you go..my husband and I just figured out how much a CZ krown equalled a US dollar and we just kept that figure in our head so that when we went to a restaurant, for example, we could estimate how much our meal would cost. We always left a tip or rounded it up, as suggested on TA.( Also note- your waiter will bring the bill and stand there for you to pay and figure out tip, etc, unlike in the US where they leave the bill and give you several minutes to figure it out alone.) Anyways, we had a great, great time! We found everyone to be very helpful and friendly and most people spoke English or enough to assist. Thanks to everyone at Trip Advisor for all the wonderful advice and tips! It was very helpful!!! - Brady

bradycakes thanks for the TR. Glad you had fun and loved Prague. Did you use the student bus system to get to Cesky Krumlov?

Glad to hear you extol the virtues of a gorgeous country! Sounds like you had a marvelous time - good for you. Thanks for your feedback! :)

Hi Luggageinhand- Funny story about the Student Agency bus thing....when we arrived in Prague I had a very bad head cold so not getting much sleep, my husband let me sleep in and went to the hotel concierge to ask about the bus and where the station was. She didnt speak English too well and...well, long story short- he ended up booking a tour instead of us just going on the bus ourselves! It was thru Martin Tours who also, I believe, use the Student Agency buses or they have something with a similar name?? It turned out fine and our guide was really great, so cest la vie!!! We had a good time...a little pricey...but good!! ;)
